Today is World Anti-Counterfeiting Day. To mark the occasion, Galeries Orlinski would like to highlight this phenomenon, which also affects Richard Orlinski‘s sculptures.
“In law, counterfeiting refers to any act that infringes an author’s intellectual property rights (economic rights and moral rights), while forgery consists in the fraudulent imitation or substitution of an artist’s signature or distinctive sign on a work of art” – La Gazette Drouot
With the advent of digital technology, many fraudulent sellers and online sales platforms (such as Amazon, Tokopedia, Aliexpress, Lazada and Ebay) are marketing numerous counterfeits.
In 2022, of the 22,505 online links to Richard Orlinski’s artworks, 16,618 (74%) were authenticated as fakes.
To ensure the protection and traceability of your acquisition, we strongly recommend that you use certified professionals for the purchase or resale of artworks.
